Rajasthan

Rajasthan is the desert state of India. An area of great beauty and contrast , it is the home of the valorous and colorful people - the rajputs, jats, and bishnois. It is also a land, which successfully combines the dazzling burning sands with simmering lake palaces. The hard rugged backdrop of shifting sand dunes has surprisingly inspired the imaginative creation of temples, forts and palaces of stunning artistry. It has also inspired color and pageantry as never before. One is simply transported back in time by a few centuries while travelling through this wonderful area of india. The Rajasthan nostalgia is sure to stay with one for a long time.

Gateway Of India

This cerimonial arch was built in 1927 in Mumbai (Bombay) to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary. Inspired in the 16th century Gujarati architecture, it was constructed in yellow basalt. It has a great historycal value, cause the last british troops to leave India by sea, passed through this gate.

About me: I'm just a social sciences student from Delhi, decendent of hindus and british and I just love my country and its history.

The greatest monument of eternal love in the world! The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum for the Empress Mumtaz Mahal. She bore Emperor Shah Jehan fourteen children, and died in childbed in 1630. He was so sad, he decided to perpetuate her memory. It was completed in 1648.

Delhi - Lotus Temple

The capital of India, is an amalgam of the old and the new. The ancient and the modern times are in juxtaposition here, not only in the remains of a succession of empires, but equally in present social structure and lifestyles. The name Delhi, Dehali, or Dilli is derived from Dhillika, the name of the first medieval township of Delhi, located on the southwestern border of the present Delhi, in Mehrauli. This was the first in the series of seven medieval cities. It is also known as Yoginipura, that is, the fortress of the yoginis (female divinities).
